Our Story

March 22, 2023 was the worst day of our lives.

Our daughter, Sophia Maloney, passed away peacefully wrapped in her daddy’s arms. Nothing prepares you for the moment you hear the words, “I’m so sorry, she is gone.” In an instant, our world changed, and we were suddenly faced with the unimaginable — learning how to say goodbye to our child and how to honor her life.

During that time, we were surrounded by kindness and support, but what we wanted most was a place that felt warm, personal, and filled with love — a space where we could gather with family and friends, share stories, and celebrate who Sophia was. We wanted a setting that felt comforting and human during one of the hardest days of our lives.

As we searched, we realized how limited those kinds of spaces were for families in our community. That’s when the idea for A Gathering For You was born.

We created this venue to give families a beautiful, affordable place to come together and remember someone they love. A space where grief can be held gently, where laughter and tears are both welcome, and where memories can be shared in a way that feels meaningful and true.

While our venue can host many types of gatherings, its heart and purpose come from our own loss. Grief is not something you move through once — it becomes part of who you are. We understand that, because we live it.

Our hope is that A Gathering For You gives families a place to feel supported, surrounded, and cared for as they honor a life and say goodbye — in their own way, and in their own time.
